A quick thanks to Calgary Fashion for coming out this past Saturday to cover the TOTO RICO party. What a nice bunch they are.

Check out the story HERE.

What's Next

As many of you already know, The Gallery on First Street will soon be undergoing some changes, as we prepare to launch our new project, "Understudy". First, store improvements. Without giving away too much, I'll say that we're planning to open up our space, creating additional room for merchandising, comfortable shopping, and palling around. We can't wait. Next, we're hitting the road in search of some exciting new stock. Hopefully, some of our clients will be interested in assisting us with our final selections, but more on that later.

In the meantime, feel free to come down and check out what's left of our sale. Also, keep checking here for updates on renovations, buying trips and of course, in-store events.

BLOG: 9-Eyes

*images taken from 9-eyes

I still recall the day that Google street-mapped my city. I remember being at work and thinking "when did I cut the grass last?"

Check out 9-Eyes, a blog by Jon Rafman for some really interesting moments captured by Google's vehicle-mounted camera.

TOTALLY RICH

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Saturday night for the TOTO RICO launch at The Gallery on First Street. We couldn't have asked for a better turnout. For those of you who couldn't make it down on Saturday, we still have some of Ted's perfectly realized tanks in stock.

Again, thank you everyone who christened this space with sweet behaviour. See you at the next party!

BLOG: Awesome People Hanging out...

*all images taken from "awesome people hanging out together".

I came upon this tumblr via The Guardian UK Culture page. Simply put, Awesome People Hanging out Together  is a photo-blog featuring images and video of unexpected celebrity pairings, triples and pool parties. It's nice to see mostly interesting "well-knowns" from generations near and far enjoying candid moments together. As for what's being celebrated, discussed, savoured or indulged in, that's up to your overactive (hopefully) imagination.

Recently, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a box of old IDEA design books from the 1970's. Subtitled "International Advertising Art", IDEA features detailed pieces on pre-digital graphic designers and artists from around the world, as well as regular segments on corporate identity and marketing design.

Now Auditioning: UNDERSTUDY

To operate on this historically significant block as it undergoes such momentous change has inspired us a lot. In keeping up with the transformation of First Street, we've developed some new plans of our own.

As all great garments begin with the fabric, our project begins with a name.  "Understudy" is a concept born from curiosity, exploration and respect. In our eyes, ears and hands, there's never too much to see, to hear, or to feel. At Understudy, it will be our mission to present a range of select goods that reflect our own interests in a way that's both personal and uncovered.

In the meantime, visit us at the Gallery on First Street, where the minds behind Understudy continue to prepare in anticipation of being called to the stage.

This time of year always makes me think of travel. Compared with summer, springtime airfares and accommodation are more reasonably priced, plus overcrowded attractions are less of an issue. So long as one's prepared for unstable weather, spring is the BEST time to take a trip. Above you'll find some lightweight spring jackets which are wind and/or water resistant, plus some versatile layering pieces. Also, don't forget to bring a good daypack for carrying everything you'll need, including a compact umbrella and sunscreen. You'll likely use both on the same afternoon.

FACT mix 247: Jay Weed

Here's a MIX that's perfect for promoting productivity on a grey, rainy afternoon. Equal parts bottomless depth and surface-snapping percussion, Jay Weed's mix for Fact seems to end only moments after it begins. For this mix and more, check FACT often. Mixes are posted for download for a limited time.

How To: Hair by Men's Non-No #299

Here, we offer you a tiny glimpse inside the most comprehensive, monthly young-men's lifestyle magazine on the planet. From Japan, it's "Men's Non-No". The most amazing thing about this magazine, is the amount of content packed into its pages, which are, again, published EVERY month. Compared with  western magazines, conventional advertising between the covers of Non-No is fairly limited, while exclusive editorial bits are instead shot and styled to sell product. Also, every product in this magazine has a price posted beside it. Above, you'll see pages from a reoccurring segment which offers grooming ideas. For more, click HERE.
